Therapy with Melissa

Personal Statement:

Our relationships with ourselves and the people around us affect every aspect of our lives.

My goal is to help people identify what is happening within themselves, and within their closest relationships.  I want to help individuals and families feel more effective in changing the patterns that are keeping them from building joyful and resilient relationships.

My Therapy Approach:

I use a family systems-based approach in therapy with individuals, couples and families.  I work with clients to explore how their attachment system, family dynamics, and systems they live in, play a part in their current relational patterns.  In addition to family systems theory, I use trauma informed models like EMDR and ACT to help people build the tools they need to work through difficult life experiences that may be interfering in their relationships and peaceful living.

I view therapy to be a very personal and collaborative process that is tailored to your individual needs.  My goal is to help you understand yourself better, identify your strengths, and build upon them.  I want to help you explore the more difficult areas of your life that are holding you back from the self you want and the relationships you desire.

Therapy begins with having a positive, safe and trusting relationship with your your therapist.  I create a supportive environment to build this strong connection.  I love my work and deeply enjoy seeing my clients grow and thrive.
